Engineering and Technology is a vibrant and key research domain at UNIMAS. This cluster spearheads UNIMAS research culture with the highest research grants and publications. The University offers Post Graduate Research opportunities in the main disciplines of Engineering and Technology, namely: Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Energy Sustainability, Electronics and Electrical Engineering. Within these disciplines there is an option to choose from more than 100 research areas, such as 'Advanced Materials', 'Non-Destructive Testing', 'Mechanical Design', and 'Robotics and Automation', to name a few.

Research in Medical and Health Sciences is increasingly a multidisciplinary effort. These include aspects of the epidemiology, pathogen, host, community, treatment, diagnosis of communicable and non-communicable diseases associated with human health. This research cluster will strive to bring together researchers with different expertise to work on multidisciplinary research projects related to medicine and health sciences. We envision long-term niche research projects that draws on the strength of our researchers to become future experts in these areas. We welcome participation from all interested researchers particularly young researchers to strengthen the research culture within the university.

The Arts cluster consists of 5 faculties, namely Faculty of Language and Communication, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Faculty of Economic and Business, Faculty of Applied & Creative Arts and Faculty of Cognitive Sciences & Human Development.
