ANNOUNCEMENT OF MALAYSIA TORAY SCIENCE FOUNDATION

MTSF is inviting researchers to submit for grants and award for MTSF year 2023 program
Malaysia Toray Science Foundation aims to contribute to the achievement of these objectives, by offering support for national scientific and technological advancement.
The Foundation assists scientists and researchers through research grants. In addition, it awards prizes for outstanding achievements which contributed to scientific and technological progress.

MTSF is offering the following Award and Research Grants to eligible Malaysian scientists and researchers.
  1. MTSF Science & Technology Award (STA) - To recognise Malaysian scientists for their outstanding achievements and accomplishments
  2. MTSF Science & Technology Research Grant (STRG) - To provide financial assistance to deserving young Malaysian researchers, below 40 years of age, to undertake basic research at local universities/institutions
  3. MTSF Science Education Award (SEA) - To science teachers and educators in secondary schools and pre-university colleges for their innovative and effective teaching methods in science education
Important

  1. All applications MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY via the 'MTSF Online Submission Platform' available at the MTSF website: http://www.mtsf.org/
  2. Nominations/Applications are to be endorsed by the authorised representative of the university, institution & secondary school / pre-university college
  3. The application for MTSF Awards and Grants shall stay open from January 2023 and closes on 31st May 2023. The online feature shall log off automatically after midnight of 31st May.

General Criteria for the Science & Technolgy Award (STA)

  1. Has made a major scientific discovery or discoveries which contributed to the enhancement of scientific knowledge.
  2. Has successfully solved a major technology problem with an economically viable solution.
  3. Has made an original, revolutionary and important invention.
  4. Malaysian citizen who resides in Malaysia.
  5. Individual or Group effort.
  6. Must be submitted by an authorized representative of scientific or professional institution or university in Malaysia of which the nominee is a member.
  7. Tax exempted in the hands of the winner.

General Criteria for the Science & Technology Research Grant (STRG)

  1. For energetic and creative young Malaysian researchers.
  2. Aged below 40.
  3. Engaged in a basic fundamental scientific research field at a research facility in Malaysia.
  4. Residing in Malaysia.
  5. Individual or Group effort.
  6. Excludes clinical medicine and mathematics.

General Criteria for the Science Education Award (SEA)

  1. Creativity – innovative approach to improve or solve problem in science teaching and learning.
  2. Practicability – effective approach to promote understanding, interest, scientific thinking and self-improvement among students.
  3. Economy – the resources used are cost effective.
  4. Effectiveness – the intended educational purposes and objectives have been attained.
  5. Individual or Group effort.
  6. Nomination by the Principal.
  7. Not taxable in the hands of the winner.
