University Visit for Green Technology & Innovation Program Discussion

On 23 February 2023, UNIMAS Innovation Technology Hub welcomed delegates from the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). The visit aligned with MGTC’s Green Innovation Acceleration Program, focusing on opportunities for mutual collaboration in green technologies.
In attendance were Prof. Dr Wang Yin Chai, Prof. Dr Mohd Azlan Jayasilan, Prof. Dr Indraneil Das, Prof. Dr Shanti, AP Dr Norhuzaimin, and researchers from IBEC and FENG. Together, both parties explored possibilities for commercialisation and research funding.
In attendance were Prof. Dr Wang Yin Chai, Prof. Dr Mohd Azlan Jayasilan, Prof. Dr Indraneil Das, Prof. Dr Shanti, AP Dr Norhuzaimin, and researchers from IBEC and FENG. Together, both parties explored possibilities for commercialisation and research funding.

On 6 August 2022, UNIMAS welcomed delegates from Universiti Teknologi Melaka Malaysia (UTeM), led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ts. Dr. Massila Kamalrudin. More than 50 delegates toured the InnoTech Hub and viewed showcases of commercialised products and research outputs, highlighting UNIMAS’ commitment to impactful innovation.

The Launch of UNIMAS Innovation Technology Hub
The UNIMAS Innovation Technology Hub (InnoTech Hub) was officially launched on 18 October 2022, in conjunction with Research Open Day 2022. The launch was officiated by YB Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for Public Health, Housing & Local Government Sarawak.
The event witnessed the MoU exchange between UNIMAS and UKISS Technology, a Web3 security firm behind the UKISS Hugware wallet. This five-year partnership with the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology will advance research and development in blockchain, decentralised protocols, digital assets, NFTs, and the metaverse, covering both academic and industrial collaborations.

UPSI Sustainable Development Goals Benchmark Visit
UNIMAS hosted a delegation from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) led by Prof. Dr Suriani binti Abu Bakar, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation). The visit included a tour of the InnoTech Hub, where delegates viewed UNIMAS’ research outputs, spin-offs, and commercialisation achievements.
In the Spin-Off Suite, three companies — Lauryn Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Semarak Kreatif Sdn Bhd, and UGlobal Solutions — showcased innovative products ranging from Keto Apong Coffee to Tourism AR/VR solutions. The visit concluded with a briefing on UNIMAS research positioning and strategic direction by the DVC (R&I).

JBALB Factory Acceptance Testing
On 12 August 2022, the InnoTech Hub hosted JBALB delegates for a factory acceptance test on the water filtration and membrane system. The project was led by Prof. Shahidul from the Faculty of Engineering, who presented the outcomes and progress of the research to the visitors.
